Tractors vs. Trailers: What’s the Difference?

Tractors vs. Trailers: What’s the Difference?

●Tractors: Have a cab but no cargo compartment.

●Trailers: Lack an integrated cargo box.

●Dump trucks: Feature built-in lifting columns, designed for loose materials.

A full trailer is a regular truck with an added trailer, connected by a hitch. It boosts load capacity and cuts fuel costs, comprising a frame, body, traction device, steering, suspension, drive system, brakes, and signals.

A semi-trailer has no engine—it’s attached to a tractor via a fifth wheel and kingpin.

●Semi-trailer pros: Stable, fast, and high load capacity (handles larger cargo than full trailers).

●Cons: Large turning radius, requiring good road conditions.

●Full trailer pros: More maneuverable with a smaller turning radius.

Cons: Demands skilled drivers; less stable than semi-trailers.
